What is a massage session like?
Many people are a little nervous if they have not had massage before. The therapist
understands this and will do everything possible to help you feel comfortable.
A thorough medical history will be taken prior to your massage to insure that the therapist
can apply the treatments in the most appropriate manner.
The room will be warm with soft music for relaxation. You will be given complete privacy
to remove your clothing. You do not need to remove any clothing that you are not comfortable
taking off. You will be draped in a professional manner, which means you are covered except
for the area the therapist is working on. At no time will the therapist work on private
areas or on any areas that you do not want to have touched. You are encouraged to communicate
your needs and preferences at all times.
The therapist may use a little oil or lotion and may offer a scent or will use unscented.
These products are well absorbed and good for your skin. Let the therapist know if you
have a preference.
You may choose to relax completely and in silence, or you may talk during your massage
and ask questions. The therapist will move your limbs to work on them and you may adjust
yourself to be as comfortable as possible. Receiving massage is not painful on healthy
tissue and helps your body slow down and relax. You may find yourself sighing or even a
bit weepy just from the release of tension in your body. That is completely normal. Often
your stomach will start to make noises! That is a great sign that your body is truly
relaxing and your therapist will be happy to hear it!
Remember!
It is very important that you remember at all times that it is YOUR massage. You may
request more or less pressure be used. If you wish for a change or adjustment let your
therapist know what you would like. You may ask questions at any time.
A massage is a healthy nurturing treatment customized just for you.
